They choose to work as hard as possible until they reach their goals, even if that means sacrificing fun for a while. They know there’s a time to be serious and a time to have fun. Just because they don’t make jokes at work doesn’t mean they don’t know how to have fun. They have an “eye on the prize” mentality, and they work hard to stay focused. This perception all stems from the façade that go-getters create. People seem to think that go-getters can’t have a fun and well-rounded social life. And if that’s not the misconception, then they are called workaholics. Many people think that go-getters will step on everyone who stands in their way to get to what they want. They are considered vicious, cold, and cut-throat. Unfortunately, many stereotypes surround the go-getter personality. And you know they are serious, dedicated people. Everyone knows at least one go-getter or has encountered one in the past. They might be those college students who never leave their dorm because they’re studying 24/7. Some might even call them “aggressively enterprising people.” They are seen as very energetic and determined to be successful.Ī go-getter might look like your colleague at work who is always knee-deep in work. What Does It Mean To Be A Go Getter?Ĭommonly, a go-getter is known as a person who is goal-oriented to a fault. Instead, read on to find out what behaviors you display without realizing it. If you think you might be a go-getter, don’t listen to all the stereotypes. This outcome is also why people run away from go-getters, and they’re afraid of becoming one. Unfortunately, this concept is often misunderstood. While it certainly might seem like it, there’s much more substance to a go-getter than it might seem. Jon and his husband are currently living with their four dogs in the greater Baltimore area of Maryland.What can be so special about a go getter? After all, aren’t they just people who care about nothing but reaching specific goals? He has earned a bachelor’s degree in art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in addition to a Bachelor of Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. In addition to quilting, Jon practices as a nurse practitioner specializing in geriatric primary care. As the Quilting Doctor his focus is on creating an inclusive quilting community where equality for BIPOC and LGBTQ2+ is front and center. ![]() He also enjoys traveling and quilting around the world. Jon has since completed numerous quilts and enjoys learning new techniques as well as sharing his passion with others. He learned to quilt in 2018 after his grandmother, an incredibly talented quilter, unexpectedly passed away the year before. Jon (aka the Quilting Doctor) is an avid quilter, doctor of nursing practice, dog dad, and military husband. What Jennifer LOVES the most about creativity is finding INSPIRATION everywhere and in turn, INSPIRING others to do the same! This journey has inspired her to make a positive difference by designing dolls and quilt patterns for others to be EMPOWERED to sew themselves! She studied embroidery digitizing in order to take her doll drawings and create In-the-Hoop patterns to reproduce a doll design. During all those years of training in the Ballet world, she also dreamed of designing costumes! Everyday she would walk by and peek into the Ballet Costume Wardrobe – what a MAGICAL space! She learned to sew from her mother and grandmother (who owned a fabric and knitting store) and often made ballet skirts, costumes and knitted legwarmers for herself and other dancers. Jennifer has been creating artistically her whole life! Throughout her schooling years, she trained full-time to be a professional ballet dancer.
